Zanzibar will – well, possibly – in the next few years be home to a $1.3 billion tower, shown above, that would, if it does get built, change the face of the semi-autonomous Indian Ocean archipelago. A joint venture of Tanzania’s AICL Group and Edinburgh Crowland Management Ltd (led by CEO Emmanuel Umoh) the tower would be designed by New York and Dubai-based architect Jean-Paul Cassia. The 78-floor off-shore would be the tallest building in eastern, central and southern Africa. Inside there should be 560 units in two branded residences, a five-star hotel (360 keys), and a wedding chapel.
