Luxury Hotels

Oh fashion, oh looks – can you believe what some people wear, how their clothes and their hair let them down (hello Rudy  Giuliani). Oh UK television last night the spokesperson for Weetabix breakfast cereal wore a top that looked like a one-sided undergarment, oh dear.  And how can airlines ask their teams to wear, say, blue suits that are so unflattering on any women even 2lb overweight, and what about all the hotels that don’t realise a cheap-commercial grey is unflattering on nearly every complexion?

Congratulations to some, however, that give presentation-gear thought. Chic black suits look great on most females. But in general think.  See the socks, above. The Phillips Collection in Washington DC sells art socks, unisex screen prints of some of their art. Shown is a pair of socks showing This Is I Love You (1970) by local print specialist Lou Stovall, born 1937. His only child, Will Stovall, has written Of the Land: The Art and Poetry of Lou Stovall, published by Georgetown University Press, 2022. The socks, by the way, look great with a black outfit. Wherever.

They were, for instance, worn – with a black dress – to the memorable evening party that The President of French Polynesia, Edouard Fritch, hosted at his official residence in Papeete for those lucky enough to be part of Windstar’s 35th anniversary cruise. One of the highlights of the evening was a jaw-dropping fashion show of black pearls from Robert Wan, king of the black pearl market.  His grandson, compèred the show. See it below:
