Crisp clean air invigorates the soul, says Girlahead, thinking back to great hikes at Vermejo Park Ranch, Ted Turner’s 600,000-acre ranch four hours’ drive south from Denver CO. As you explore – see above – you might encounter some of the amazing wild life who call this home: antelope, bison, deer, elk, mountain lion, rattlesnakes and over 180 bird species, including bald and red-tailed eagles. Fish, with Orvis, and perfect archery and/or shooting. Think about joining Melanie Webb, author of Mother Nature’s Gym and founder, Sol Fitness Adventures and WEBBWELL, for a four-day retreat, 19-23 August: you stay 10,200 feet ASL at Vermejo’s Costilla Lodge. Find inspiration, energy, and motivation in nature this summer!
It does not sound as if Virgil Abloh (yes, this, after Vermejo, is V-day) has much time to retreat. The 40 year-old fully-qualified civil engineer and architect, artist, DJ, father-of-two and much more has seen Louis Vuitton’s menswear sales up 20% since he became artistic director, and not surprisingly LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault, who already held 5% of Abloh’s own fashion brand, Off White, is upping that to 60%. The pair already knew each other professionally as Abloh it was who designed the controversial but runway-successful see-through wheelie bag for LVMH’s Rimowa. Along the way, the versatile designer has himself started, and sold on, such other brands as Pyrex Vision, when he bought deadstock garments from Ralph Lauren at ¢40 each and, after adding a screenprint design that would attract Gen Y attention, successfully priced the same piece for at least $550. He has designed for IKEA, and exhibited with Takashi Murakami and a few months ago launched a monthly two-hour Worldwide FM radio show, Imaginary Radio c/o Virgil Abloh. Girlahead salutes him, this Simply Sunday.
Here, by the way, is the video of Virgil Abloh’s long-time collaborator and now good friend Kanye West at Abloh’s Paris 2018 show for Louis Vuitton:
