April 2018 is tulip month for Amsterdam’s luxury hotels, and at The Conservatorium there are literally thousands of fresh blooms, set in public areas and in all 129 Piero Lissoni-designed bedrooms and suites.
During the weekend of April 13-15, 2018, hotel guests can learn how to arrange tulips, thanks to to hotel florist Menno Kroon, who is setting up a pop-up floral boutique in the lobby. During the entire month of April, tulip cake will be served with afternoon tea, or coffee, and a popular alternative at all times is Jenever, also known as Ginever or Dutch gin, flavoured with juniper (the best Amsterdam Jenevers are made by Van Wees and Wynand Fockink).
Led by CEO Roy Tomassen, The Conservatorium, part of The Set collection, also offers an exciting tulip package. Stay two nights at the hotel, and during the intervening day you helicopter over vast multi-coloured tulip fields, flower parks and Dutch coast. In addition, a private driver takes you to a tulip farm for a unique introduction to art tulip cultivation to learn the fascinating history of this craft and even pick tulips to take home. You also have tickets to Keukenhof, the Netherland’s celebrated flower garden – seven million bulbs and 800 varieties of tulips on show from March 22nd until May 13th. Back at the luxury hotel, knowledgeable foodies will already have dinner reservations for Schilo van Coevorden’s stunning cuisine at Taiko, in the hotel.
