Taj is top India brand, any industry

Taj ranks Number One on the list of the strongest Indian brands – all sectors – by Brand Finance in its ‘India 100 2020’ report. Taj has got the rare distinction of being ranked the highest across brands in all sectors. Taj is part of Indian Hotels Company, whose MD and CEO Puneet Chhatwal is, he says, humbled. Speaking exclusively to the gal, Chhatwal attributes the recognition to purity of the Taj brand, its history, its community involvement and sustainability, and the unique philosophy, Tajness, emanating from warmth and care.

London-based Brand Finance, www.brandfinance.com, was founded 1996 by its CEO, David Haigh, formerly heading Interbrands’ global valuation division.  This year, Brand Finance gave Taj a Brand Strength Index BSI score of 90.5 out of 100 and a corresponding elite AAA+ brand strength rating based on such factors as marketing investment, familiarity, loyalty, employee satisfaction, customer experience and corporate reputation. It defines Brand Strength as the efficacy of a brand’s performance on intangible measures, relative to its competitors. Each brand is assigned a BSI score out of 100, which feeds into the brand value calculation: based on these calculations, each brand is assigned a corresponding rating up to AAA in a format similar to credit rating. Ajimon Francis, MD Brand Finance India, says “Taj is a rare luxury brand that is both humble and at the same time exquisite in its meticulous customer experience.”
