Luxury Hotels

FAIRMONT WINDSOR PARK, a brand-new significant hotel that opened officially 1st January 2022, has without doubt the best wellness in the whole of UK – if not in Europe, and arguably the world. Why?  Well, says Girlahead, this 220-bedroom new-build Arora palace, in 40 acres of gorgeous landscape 20 minutes west of London’s Heathrow Airport, has a staggering two-floor wellness section, 2,500 sq m in all.

Surinder Arora, king of castle, beams with pleasure, which is not surprising.  His Group director of wellness, Lisa Barden, has gathered the very best for today’s new-look wellness. 18 treatment rooms are complemented by a massive personal spa for the hotel’s Royal Suite. ‘Ordinary’ wellness addicts are not compromised, however. There’s a Bodyscan Analytics 4D Body Scanner, a hammam from Paris’ La Sultane de Saba, a four-chair barber shop from London’s 1805-heritage Truefitt & Hill (photos of The Queen and the Prince of Wales on the far wall), female hair and Comfort Zone facials from Italy’s Davines empire, Facebible medical aesthetics from an Arora family member – plus Japanese Ashiyu foot baths, the best of latest Technogym and pilates and spinning classes. Now think of those friends of yours who swam in Lac Leman on New Year’s Day… here, hotel guests and Club members can don protective gear to stop ears freezing when popping into the first Cryotherapy Chamber (-60) and then, three minutes max, to the neighbouring chamber ( -110°).  Club members, by the way, get a full rang

Oh yes, EVO and Nailberry mani-pedis, a 20-metre indoor pool and, outside, another pool, three tennis courts and biking. Girlahead heard talks of golf and polo, and of Greens menu, cook and drink what makes you feel better (a flute of Laurent-Perrier?) and there’s a mental therapist on call.

Well done Surinder Arora and Fairmont and Accor, for all realising that wellness could soon lead the very need for luxury hotels.

In St Moritz wellness is long established. BADRUTT’S PALACE has been an event- and team sponsor at the Snow Polo World Cup for many years. This year, the 37thedition of the tournament will take place from 28 – 30 January. The first edition was held in St. Moritz in 1985 and at that time, it was the world premiere of a polo tournament on snow on a frozen lake. What began in St. Moritz had started a worldwide trend. Nowadays, polo on snow is played across the globe from Aspen in the US to Tianjin in China but the St. Moritz original still remains the most prestigious polo tournament on snow.

Badrutt’s Palace will run a public catering as well as the VIP catering tent on the lake (the exclusive gala night will be held at the hotel  on Saturday, January 29th). Badrutt’s Palace team captain Melissa Ganzi hopes to repeat the 2019 performance, when team Badrutt’s Palace won the Snow Polo World Cup for the first time and she was the first female captain to win the tournament.

Let’s finish today with that great queen of wellness, Susie Ellis:
