The Mornington Peninsula will see its classic Continental Hotel, above, become InterContinental – it is in Sorrento, the Australian one, under two hours’ drive from Melbourne.

Fairmont Windsor Park, a conversion of the 210-room Savill Court Hotel, 20 minutes west of London’s Heathrow Airport, is owned by Arora, the company started and run by the brilliant Surinder Arora. Arora is really stressing the food offerings at this hotel. Top chef is Mark Brega, whose extensive experience includes Lansdowne Members Club in London’s Mayfair. Brega was also the customer-dedicated development chef for British Airways, for whom, coincidentally, Surinder Arora once worked.

Are good times indeed coming?  Girlahead, always the optimist, hopes so.  Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group – whose enormous portfolio includes 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels & Resorts, and his new Treehouse brand, told CNBC that  travel recovery has started:  1 Hotel South Beach, indeed, was ahead in February of this year, even of 2019. He believes bottled-up demand will also boost social events. People will go back to theaters.

Also Fairmont, by the way… in Seattle WA, the 1924-vintage Fairmont Olympic unveils its new theatrical  lobby facility, anchored by the Olympic Bar, on 30th April. Designer is the Lázaro Rosa-Violán studio.  Hotel GM Sunny Joseph says you will feel it new narratives, new emotions, a new era.
