Luxury Hotels

Bangkok – Singapore – ILTM –

Bill Heinecke should be lauded as one of the greatest exports of the USA – there are too many dubious exports at lower, obese level, from McDonald’s to Subway and so on, but for luxury level Girlahead immediately thinks of fashion’s Tory Burch, and the annual Met Gala. When it comes to luxury hotels, yes, Ritz-Carlton fits the bill, and perhaps St Regis could be considered. There are individual properties, say The Breakers, Inn at Perry Cabin, The Lowell, The Mark, The Boulders and The Plaza, but none has been exported (The Setai does have one sibling, in Tel Aviv). Bill Heinecke actually exported himself, by the way: he is now a Thai citizen, based in Bangkok, where his hotels – just a minute selection of his enormous worldwide portfolio – include the lovely St Regis Bangkok, run by super-talented GM Klaus Christandl.

And now, to Singapore, host of the annual ILTM Asia Pacific, which will be a virtual event this year,  20 – 22 July, 2021. “While vaccine rollouts are going in the right direction towards international travel’s recovery, it appears that July will still be too early for an in-person event of our size in Singapore. For this reason, we have made the decision to postpone ILTM Asia Pacific 2021 as a face-to-face gathering until 2022, and instead hold this year’s event as a virtual edition,” says Alison Gilmore, Portfolio Director, ILTM Portfolio. ILTM Asia Pacific will deliver one-to-one online meetings, plus direct messaging between buyer or media and suppliers, in addition to opportunities to learn from content and industry insights available throughout the duration of the three-day event.
