Sometimes little things are lifetime memories of a luxury hotel. The gal had such an occasion at Mandarin Oriental London, at lunch at DINNER by Heston. Like every other table in that full restaurant, one of us had Heston Blumenthal’s signature ‘meat fruit’. What looks like a mandarin, above, is a pâté paste covered in mandarin gel. Adapted from dishes served to King Henry VIII, this recipe was developed over months, apparently… of course all the diners photograph it.
But there were other photo opportunities. With selfies in mind, the hotel’s lobby had an arch of fresh foliage and flowers decorated for Wimbledon. Of course someone had to pose, and here the model is the very model of an outstanding concierge, Raul Bermejo, helping a guest check in for a flight. Everyone was happy, and there were memories galore.
