Simply Sunday, colour and fun at an iconic luxury hotel in Las Vegas

GG in SJP

Once again it is that time of year when the gal joins a growing number of those involved in the luxury hotel world in Las Vegas.  Once again the lobby ceiling at Bellagio, the host beauty of this gathering, Virtuoso Travel Week, takes one’s breath away. Look at it, above, seen through a screen of perfect fresh flowers, replenished daily at five a.m. – the ceiling is a floral wonderland in glass, by Dale Chihuly, he who did the two breathtaking wall displays at Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore.

As always, there is, however, something new to see at Bellagio. On Sunday August 13th, 2017, the very day that Travel Week officially started, Sarah Jessica Parker – also officially – opened her latest SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker shoe salon, a partnership with Manolo Blahnik’s CEO George Malkemus.  The waiting line  stretched back out of the door into the main Bellagio walkway, conveniently between the convention centre and the elevators to all 3,933 bedrooms.  Within the next few days, of course, some of the Travel Week delegates succumbed, and among the fashionistas later clutching one of the distinctive SJP carry bags was InterContinental’s Gillian Greenwood, who, like SJP, is famous enough to be known by her initials, GG. It is she, GG, who organises, without nannying, her hotel GMs at special events like this – she knows which top travel advisors they want to meet, and she arranges a stylish party accordingly.  It is no wonder that GG is one of the 2017 nominees for hotel ambassador of the year: she knows her luxury properties and their GMs and she knows the business of this industry.  And style.
