The world’s largest luxury hotel chain will open its latest property – InterContinental Perth City Centre – on 15 October.
The King Street Precinct sets the scene for the 16-storey hotel which will offer 240 rooms, studios and suites as well as Club InterContinental, a collection of new dining and bar options plus a meeting suite concept.
Designed by Woods Bagot with interiors conceived by Chada, the InterContinental Perth City Centre will welcome guests with layers of design details and a residential feel to the guest rooms.
Particular attention has been paid to curating an extensive art collection, with many works commissioned especially for the new hotel from leading Western Australian painters, ceramicists, glassblowers and sculptors.
Guests will be able to select from classic, city view or the more generous executive studios and suites. Each offers a light-filled space and every amenity from luxe toiletries and generously stocked mini-bar featuring local wines and boutique brews, to smart TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and round-the-clock room service. Those staying in Club InterContinental rooms will have the benefit of the Club InterContinental Lounge, a sanctuary on the hotel’s top floor. Club guests can start the day with à la carte breakfast, enjoy all-day refreshments, take an afternoon tea service as well as evening canapés and drinks while looking out at city views. An executive meeting room is also available for complimentary use.
The InterContinental Perth City Centre’s restaurant and bar offerings – with interior design by EDG Design – will bring dynamic eating, drinking and gathering options to the city with local produce and regional wines.
Heno & Rey – a slick tapas bar spilling out onto Hay and King Streets – is set to be a destination to meet for cocktails by a mixologist and enjoy a plate of charcuterie, something from the raw bar or a more generous dish with a glass or two of Western Australian wine; Ascua (Spanish for ember) will be a dramatic ground-floor restaurant space, complete with open kitchen, banquette seating and sommelier service; The Loft Lounge, perched on level one, will tempt guests with coffee and fresh pastries from early morning, a high tea service in the afternoon and cocktails anytime on the al fresco terrace overlooking century-old palms and heritage buildings on King Street. Graffiti is a food truck-meets-hole-in-the-wall diner, opening for early birds revealing a window into the kitchen of Ascua. Expect locally roasted coffee, gourmet-to-go bites, even test dishes from the hotel’s chefs. Look for the roller door clad with a commissioned work by street artist Daek William.
Completing the hotel offer is The Gallery Meeting Suites, providing an environment for business gatherings, seminars and more intimate events looking for a different approach to functions. Five suites are filled with natural light and flexible configurations to host up to 150 delegates. But it’s the central lounge area which is perfect for breakouts, a spacious outdoor terrace equipped with a bar area together with two open-plan kitchens to extend live cooking displays and a variety of culinary options.
Beyond the hotel’s doorstep on Hay Street, His Majesty’s Theatre (home to the WA Opera, WA Ballet and Perth’s myriad cultural events); luxe retailers from Chanel to Kailis Pearls lining King Street and cafe-filled laneways await, along with Perth’s business hub, city parks and the Swan River ferry options at Elizabeth Quay.
