Luxury Hotels

Duncan Palmer, above with Jenny Cronin when he was running Wharf Hotels’ The Murray Hong Kong, has done the rounds of many of the world’s top hotels. In London, for the last few years he has been lovingly upgrading and extending The Beaumont. Now that project has finished, he’s taking a sabbatical to spend time with his wife and kids and his four-wheeled toys.

Who is stepping into Duncan Palmer’s shoes? None other than Stuart Procter, long-time GM of The Stafford London and CEO of The Stafford Collection. He, Procter, has for years mastered the art of having traditional-type American travel advisors eating out of his hand and it is reasonable to assume that many will swop the south-of-Piccadilly part of London for south-of-Oxford Street.

And who is stepping into Stuart Procter’s shoes? None other than John McLean, another veteran who has done the rounds of London’s luxury-level boutique hotels. Until last week he was running Belmond’s Cadogan. This very day, 5th June, he starts as CEO Stafford Collection and GM of The Stafford. As fortuitous luck would have it, Girahead is meeting him in The Stafford’s American Bar – below – this evening. ¬†Watch this space.
