What is new – New York – London – Marbella

Keep calm in today’s chaos. A couple of years ago, PP – pre-pandemic – Girlahead was introduced, by Mark Hoplamazian, to Hyatt’s significantly-wood corporate headquarters, cantilevered over and looking down at Chicago River. Hyatt’s mindful-aware CEO  has always been ahead of the curve in realising the importance of a theatre of space that features natural materials and views. Opportunity for calm, and thus creativity. PP again, this time increased Productivity-Profit. Jump to today, and an equally mindful-aware family in Chennai introduced Girlahead to Muse. Thanks to creators in Canada, this is an easily-programmable headband, above, that helps you relax, listen to birds or whatever. Opportunity not only for more calm and creativity but even better sleep. @choosemuse

One of the most-calm culinarians on the global luxury circuit is Toni Robertson, back as F&B Director and Executive Chef at Mandarin Oriental New York – she is always smiling, this long-time friend to Girlahead and so many others. One of the many current responsibilities is overseeing the hotel’s MO Lounge, on its 35th floor Sky Lobby. While looking out at Central Park and the Manhattan skyline, try one of the best-selling dishes-to-remember, say 21 days-aged New York steak seared to with seasalt and three peppers and doused, if you must, with black garlic and truffle butter sauce.

Today is a big day in London. Ahead of launching its bedrooms, Carlton Tower Jumeirah opens eatertainment (and there is already a wedding scheduled for this coming weekend). Girlahead imagines she is calling into the hotel for a snack and chat, perhaps Marco Calenzo’s best-ever croque monsieur or a sharing menu in Al Mare and, at sundowner time, a silver tankard of Krug in Chinoiserie – as Jumeirah CEO José Silva said a couple of hours ago, the philosophy is entertainment and energy, with food and drink that is memorable and emotional.

And after those bubbles-in-silver, walk out of the hotel, turn right and right and in five minutes you are metaphorically drowning in design. Want Dolce & Gabbana or Hermès or Chanel or whatever, all are here in Sloane Street, forming  a retail guard of honour to Carlton Tower Jumeirah. Ah, Chanel.  Girlahead likes the thought of its pop-up boutique at the Marbella Club. Now through October, see, try and buy Chanel’s current Spring-Summer Ready-to-Wear,  Métiers d’art “Le Château des Dames” and the exclusive CHANEL COCO BEACH 2021 collections.

Finally, today, listen once again to the aforementioned José Silva expounding on theatre, of food and life:
