Simply Sunday. I learned long ago that to avoid getting sick when travelling there are various rules one follows at all time. If someone around you has a head cold, wash your hands thoroughly as soon as you can – in fact wash your hands anyway, as often as is possible. When it comes to food, never eat anything off a street cart, however much you are tempted to go native. And at all times, regardless of how chic the restaurant, try to stick to foods that you can easily recognize and dishes that have not required too much labour. Keep away from little chi-chi items that may look beautiful but someone has spent a long time in a hot atmosphere twirling carrot julienne into a fan shape, say… This dish, shown (at W Bangkok) gets full marks. It looks good, I can recognize everything and, by golly it tasted good at the time. Simply super, a rib eye, bone marrow, spinach and thin fries.
