Luxury travel tip – have FUN, wherever

This cheery character on Norwegian television makes any traveller smile

Simply Sunday.  Simply fun-day.  Wherever you are, have fun.   Say you wake up at an airport hotel, like Park Inn Oslo Airport.  Turn on the television and watch one of the kids’ channels.

Particularly on a Sunday morning you will get back-to-back, laugh-to-laugh cartoons.  It does not matter how old or young you are (and you may feel old after all that flying you did yesterday), looking at international cartoons makes you smile.

The gal is always impressed by how magnificently luxury and other airport hotels operate.  This one has 300 rooms, of which probably 5275 is typical.  It has views over the runway, so you know where you are, but perfect sound insulation.

You have plenty of sockets, a kettle for making tea or coffee and china mugs, by RAK, in the corporate Park Inn colours, namely one blue, one green, one red, one yellow.  Yes, you can even sleep four in this room, in case you have brought your own kids.

You have a safe, a good shower, free WiFi and, downstairs, a 24-hour Technogym with kinesis.  Breakfast is help-yourself, with strong coffee that would make Americans wilt, and pumpernickel and Norwegian brown cheese that keep Scandinavians healthy.

And, of course, you have cartoons, as well as BBC, on your LG screens.  Fun-day Sunday.
