Luxury travel tip, find out why something is there

L'Oiseau Blanc, in front of the illuminated Eiffel Tower

L’Oiseau Blanc, in front of the illuminated Eiffel Tower

Simply Sunday, when you see a plane supposedly ‘flying by’ you might wonder why.  You SHOULD wonder why.  This full-size replica flying by L’Oiseau Blanc restaurant, atop that super-luxury hotel, The Peninsula Paris, was specially made by Gateguards, in the UK.  Yes, it is a copy of the Oiseau Blanc biplane that WWI aces François Coli and Charles Nungesser were flying when they disappeared May 9th, 1927, while they were trying to fly the Atlantic before Charles Lindbergh.  The owner of The Peninsula brand, the Hon Sir Michael Kadoorie, is an aviation enthusiast par excellence, hence the flying connection.

Anyway, the point of this Sunday story is if you see something on your travels, anywhere, ask about it and you are more likely to remember it, and where you have been.  Happy travels, GirlAhead followers!
