Luxury travel tip – airport food is getting better

Salad, with carrot-miso dressing, at Sushi Maki, Miami Airport

Simply Sunday.  I was with my good friend Elizabeth Blau, food conceptor extraordinaire, the other day, and she told me she always heads for Whole Foods to stock up with food before a flight.  I used to do the same thing, especially in the USA, but now airport food is getting better.

Look at this super salad that came, as a complimentary starter, to the sashimi platter I picked up at American Airlines‘ Terminal 4 at Miami. The place is called Sushi Maki and you can sit there, or take the food away.  It was almost as good as super-duper health-food Itsu at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 in London (Itsu is owned by Julian Metcalfe, who co-started Prêt-à-Manger some years ago).  Eat Itsu or Sushi Maki and you will fly well and, the gal finds, it is then possible to get easily into, rather than have to squeeze into, the LBD at your cocktail tonight.  On that take, GirlAhead salutes @LuxeTiffany, one of our growing number of highly intelligent followers, who always looks slimline fantastic and above fashion and yet she eats normal.  What is HER secret?
