Rosewood London – see the image above – is following so many other leading hotels in offering work-from-hotel staycations, but the property’s Rosewood Workcation Package does have a few USPs. It specifically says that suites will be transformed into offices with grand desks, Rosewood London stationery and all-the usual-workplace facilities. In addition, a Family Concierge is available to babysit, while older siblings can learn pastry-making in The Pie Room, take a guided walk to explore the surrounding Holborn area or even learn from a Rosewood Tutor.
Girlahead was so sorry not to have time, when at Castelfalfi in Tuscany, to visit the Piaggio Museum. Now she covets one of Piaggio’s Gita robots, produced by Piaggio’s Fast Forward division. Gita is a bag-carrying robot, who follows you carrying your Dior or Louis Vuitton trophies. Which will be the first shop, or hotel, to offer Gita as an incentive to shop there, stay here, and you do not have to carry anything? (Of course if Gita WAS carrying a pair of $5,000 Dior black leather trousers, perhaps it, and they, would be hijacked enroute….) Talking of those fashion brands, with LVMH turning the expected 1% deficit into a current-12% surplus, and similar high returns from Hermès and Kering, it shows real luxury is worth it.
Dubai is admired worldwide for its efficiency, usually, but the city has a challenge right now. A regular worldwide traveller flew in the other day, arriving simultaneously with flights from Addis Adaba, Taipei and goodness knows where else. No-one at immigration checked the required pre-flight health certificates but all passengers had to line up to hand-write a new health declaration (and only one pen available for everyone) which were then typed out before a test could be taken. This palaver took 2.5 hours, by which time it was impossible immediately to find your checked baggage, long since unloaded. (Memo to self – Girlahead says that when flying into Dubai, make sure you have a pen.)
Actually, Dubai is not on the immediate itinerary. It would be lovely to have Portugal’s Douro Valley there… at Six Senses Douro Valley the many activities obviously include wine tasting and great hikes, and also serious tree climbing. As always at a Six Senses, wellness dominates throughout. Hear more about Six Senses, worldwide, present and future, from CEO Neil Jacobs, now up on MARY GOSTELOW GIRLAHEAD PODCAST https://anchor.fm/gostelow
