Today’s world news

Peninsula’s legendary COO PETER BORER, above, right, was, in his official capacity as HSH Chief Operating Officer, given the French Government’s Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur and Chevalier dans l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole. The ceremony took place privately at The Peninsula Hong Kong this Wednesday, 6th October 2021.

Oh WHAT A WEEK THAT WAS – AND IS. Yesterday, Marriott launched its Week of Wonders ‘sale’ for Bonvoy loyalists.  Can they afford to stay home, these travellers? BOOK A 2-NIGHT, MINIMUM, STAY AND YOU GET UP TO $300 BONVOY CREDITS.  Buy all your Christmas presents via Bonvoy. Until the end of Week of Wonders, next Thursday, 14th October, BUY AWAY LUGGAGE, or a WESTIN HEAVENLY BED.

Now, LOOK AHEAD. Heckfield Place, led so brilliantly by GM Olivia Richli, hosts a fireside chat Friday 12th November between American Dr Nicholas Cullinan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery in London, and Canadian architect Jamie Fobert CBE – the two are leading the National Portrait Gallery’s latest project, Inspiring People.  It’s also worth noting that currently Heckfield Place is official restaurateur at London’s pop-up Frieze art gallery, running 8-11 October. Both partnerships are so obvious: Olivia Richli was a book illustrator before she fell into the hotel world, and Heckfield Place has a displayed collection of over 400 magnificent modern art works.
