Personally, Girlahead has ALWAYS associated happiness with authenticity, fresh air, nature and space – and ‘real’ food that she can choose herself rather than having a so-called celebrity chef concoct a casserole of blended flavours (OK, we loved how Dean Fearing put South West cuisine on the map, in Dallas, first at The Mansion on Turtle Creek and then at Ritz-Carlton Dallas, but why could he not simply let veggies be veggies instead of participants in jigsaws of up to 12 different vegetable varieties?).
Interestingly, Blue Zones’ founding leader Dan Buettner, whose many books include Blue Zones Happiness and Blue Zones Kitchen, says personal happiness depends on six factors, no matter where you live. These are:
- Trust. Can I trust my neighbour?
- Tolerance. Can I live out my values?
- Community. Do I have strong social connections?
- Healthy life expectancy. Take lue Zones’ True Vitality Test to measure your life expectancy.
- GDP. Money does matter…up to a certain point, says Buettner.
- Freedom. Do I have the freedom to do the work that is right for me?

Happiness for aficionados is travelling by private jet. One HOUR ago the Dubai-based leader, Jetex, formally announced its new Singapore hub, a collaboration with Bombardier. This leverages Jetex’s world-class service standards and ground handling systems with Bombardier’s strong presence in Singapore. It expands the Singapore Service Centre at Seletar Aerospace Park beyond aircraft service and maintenance to offer a full spectrum of services to operators and elite travellers. “We are optimistic about the possibilities for growth in the Asia-Pacific region and very excited to be adding Singapore to our network,” said Adel Mardini, Founder & CEO of Jetex. “Last year, Singapore experienced very strong demand for private jets with an increase of 16% compared to 2018. Bombardier shares our high standards for service, so the collaboration is a natural fit.” Jean-Christophe Gallagher, VP and GM, Customer Experience, Bombardier Aviation, says both Jetex and Bombardier deliver the exceptional service that customers demand and deserve.
For some, happiness is a rock on one’s finger. Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend was first sung by Carol Channing in the original 1949 Broadway production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and it was later popularised by Marilyn Monroe, with voice-over help perhaps by Gloria Wood, in the 1953 movie, of the same name. Ah, diamonds…
A rare, “flawless” 102-carat white diamond mined in Northern Ontario two years ago sold for a record price in an online Sotheby’s auction on Monday last week, 5th October, 2020, to an anonymous buyer for $15.7 million. The opening bid for the first-of-its-kind gem started at only 13 cents. See a clip below… Luxury wins out, yet again
