COMO Hotels and Resorts is preparing for the arrival of its third Balinese property and its 14th worldwide. At a celebratory dinner on Sunday 5 November, the group declared that COMO Echo Beach would open in February 2018, near the village of Canggu on Bali’s south coast. Eugene Feklistov, Regional DoSM – Bali, and Javier Beneyto, GM of COMO’s three Balinese properties, flew in from Indonesia for the occasion, sharing details of the new resort with media and their guests, gathered beside Sydney Harbour at Sails on Lavender Bay.

The 119-room resort includes one- and two-bedroom residences as well as three-bedroom duplex penthouses featuring individual rooftop pools. Designers Koichiro Ikebuchi and Paola Navone have created a leading-edge concept, accented with modern Asian and Italian touches.

COMO Beach Club will be the hub of the resort and its main restaurant, focusing on ‘new world cuisine’ elevated with Australian contemporary flair. Those seeking wellness will be catered for at the new COMO Shambhala Retreat with seven treatment rooms, and Asian-inspired therapies complemented by yoga and pilates classes daily.

Surfing is one of the drawcards of the Balinese south coast, and COMO Echo Beach delivers with a partnership with Tropicsurf, suitable for beginners as well as those with experience. Away from the waves, the resort can organise walking tours, golf excursions and adventures into the heart of Bali accompanied by English-speaking guides.

Throughout the evening, dinner guests enjoyed a two-course meal, offering a choice between seared scallops and Byron Bay Berkshire pork belly for entree, and Grimaud duck breast and blue-eye trevalla for main. Attendees left with a COMO canvas bag, a copy of COMO Stories magazine and travel-size COMO Shambala amenities.
