What is now called Belmond Mount Nelson, Cape Town, was painted pink on 11/11/1918 to celebrate the end of World War I, and the luxury property has retained this distinctive look ever since. Under current GM/RVP Xavier Lablaude a whole bouquet of celebrations are planned: these include a garden party on November 10th, 2018, with Veuve Clicquot Rosé, and, throughout the year, pink edibles at the hotel’s justly-celebrated afternoon tea. There are pink-hued cocktails – and rose-petal and geranium poultices in the spa. In April 2019 the hotel’s artist-in-residence, Cyril Coetzee, hosts a Touch of Pink exhibition by 40 local artists (this benefits the Breast Cancer Association). A year-long Touch of Pink package includes bed and breakfast, pink afternoon tea, cocktails and massages. #BelmondTouchofPink
