John O’Sullivan, artist, poet and Four Seasons’ hotelier supreme when if comes to seven hotels in Latin America, joined over 30 of his colleagues at an afternoon tea at flower-filled L’Ecrin Beach Club in Cannes during ILTM yesterday (except that it wasn’t teatime, it was Champagne and grapefruit-Tequila and divine edibles and watch the sun set).
It was also the occasion to hear the host, Alejandro Reynal, CEO of Four Seasons, show what a brilliant orator he is. Without a single note or crib he introduced new openings and their GMs – FOUR SEASONS MALLORCA, Estreya Gosalbez, and FOUR SEASONS RABAT, Gregory Viaud. He shared the growing importance of residences and travel. He explained how people stay with Four Seasons and like it so much they want to live with it, and fly with it and sail with it. Four Seasons will be investing in infrastructure, and, considerably, in service.
This was the second commendably professional speech Girlahead had heard in under 20 hours: the other was delivered by Julia Perowne at Perowne International’s customary dinner on the Monday of ILTM. Yesterday there were also some skilled orators sharing what they’re up to at 20-minute media briefings. Girlahead gave top marks to Sven Lindberg, Lindberg Expeditions, and, as always, to Matthew Upchurch Virtuoso – whose father, coincidentally, had been a good friend of Lindberg senior.
