A memorable view first thing in the morning helps any day start even more right, if one can say that without it being appalling English. Look at the view, above, as Girlahead had a fruit sampling and lots of other goodies at .Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. (Girlahead had gone to this three-island resort on purpose, to see the GM Etienne Dalancon, but he had moved and replacement TJ Jouliat but the resort was admirably being looked after by Manager Marco Araujo, from Porto).  It’s a mammoth crescent of a resort, 3.5 kms from one tip to the other of the crescent, but fortunately there were plenty of buggies to provide breakfast transport from Reef Villa #511 to the breakfast beach.

What other breakfast views spring to mind? Looking across Sydney Harbour from Park Hyatt Sydney is an immediate vision, as is the panorama of London from the 35th floor Ting at Shangri-La at the Shard. For most ‘distant’ views look down at Hong Kong from the 102nd floor Lounge of Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong.

Have breakfast with giraffe peeping through the windows at the appropriately-named Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, or with a variety of wildlife around at any of Singita’s lodges. Look out at mounted guardsmen, in full regalia, as you breakfast, overlooking Hyde Park, at Mandarin London Hyde Park. Across the Atlantic at sister hotel Mandarin Oriental New York there’s another glorious park view, of Central Park.

One could go on forever.  The point is that any food seems to taste better if there is something pleasing to see, and this is especially true first thing in the morning.
