Only the best will do for a luxury travel experience

Selection in the cognac cabinet

The gal is still at sea, aboard the good ship – sorry, the good and great luxury cruise ship – Silver Shadow, so hence the ongoing truncated postings.  Never mind, usual service will be resumed tomorrow, to start the New Year.

I mentioned dining onboard. The main restaurant, on the fourth deck, is à la carte, breakfast, lunch and dinner, with formal (black ties and LBD) about every third night.  I prefer breakfasting and lunch at the buffet of Terrazza, inside or out, on the seventh deck – this turns into a set-meal à la carte at dinner.  You can eat outside, on the open deck by the pool, or, dinner only, at the gourmet Champagne Room.  No wonder chef Hans Pirker is a busy guy, as is his sommelier colleague, Karolina Djeric. And when passengers have given up guzzling, they can always head for the Cigar room, to pick up a cognac of choice.  It is nonstop, much busier than any luxury hotel experience.
