The World Economic Forum WEF is moving! Forget Davos in the middle of winter and head, 18-21 May 2021, to Katara Hospitality’s Burgenstock, the mega-resort high above Lucerne (and what a romantic start to the event, you can travel up there by an 1888-vintage pulley funicular, see above). Not surprisingly, the WEF juggernaut cannot give up on winter-wonders altogether, and there will be a digital statement beginning 25th January 2021, but wait for the REAL event. It will be themed The Great Reset, to focus specifically on such pressing global challenges as the coronavirus and design a common recovery path to shape the so-called “The Great Reset” in the post-COVID-19 era.
Lisbon will have an Andaz, one of Girlahead’s liveliest brands as At Andaz you yourself Feel Fun. The 169-room, being developed by Feuring Hotel Lissabon GmbH & Co KG, is expected to open in 2024. On Rua Augusta in trendy Baixa district will be formed of five separate buildings. One, the former headquarters of Banco Português de Investimento BPI, will hold the bedrooms, while the surrounding four satellite buildings have specialty themed. Architects are Andreas Mörschel and Pedro Reis, and the inside look is by Bastir Interior Design. The rooftop will have bar and restaurant.
Aman’s A Camp of Your Own initiative offers tented camp buy-outs, with full service. There are ten tents at both Aman-i-Khas in rural Rajasthan’s Ranthambore National Park, a former hunting ground and home of the Bengal Tiger, and at Camp Sarika by Amangiri, in the heart of the Utah desert, while Amanwana, on Moyo Island in Indonesia, has 12 tents. Girlahead thinks any of these buy-outs would be great for family events, or girly getaways. To the uninitiated, Aman is a secret luxury, but, once found, the brand, today masterminded by its owner and such other visionaries as COO Roland Fasel, is addictive.
There are other distinctive brands that have strong following. One is Six Senses, whose CEO Neil Jacobs is a livewire creator who has time for everything and everyone. Jacobs is guest on this week’s MARY GOSTELOW GIRLAHEAD PODCAST. Catch it on https://anchor.fm/gostelow. Swire Hotels’ House collective is another brand waiting to be discovered by the uninitiated. Its marketing is brilliantly understated. Girlahead loves the fact that GMs personally introduce the brand’s current videos, as below.
