Fly to Antarctica… try a new Bali resort

Want to fly to Antarctica but time is short?  Here is a way to do it in 24 hours flat.  You do, however, need to start from one of the most gorgeous luxury hotels in the whole of Southern Africa, Ellerman House in Cape Town. From there, you are taken by private Gulfstream jet for a five-and-a half-hour flight over icebergs. The jet lands on a specially prepared ice runway and you are transferred by four- wheel drive to the Schirmacher Oasis in East Antarctica (this is a land of cliffs, lakes and science bases). Explore and take part in a range of activities that can be very gentle or more adventurous, all escorted. In the evening there is a gourmet dinner and the night is spent glamping  in a heated fiberglass pod – see the image above.  This white-desert.com itinerary, which finishes back at Ellerman House, can be personalised by Camilla Bates, cbates@strategicvision.org
