Looking out from the hotel
‘Ice-cream’ – see above – was painted in 2016 by Canadian Street Art guru Richard Hambleton. The decorated 1977 Chevy van raised $300,000 when it was auctioned in aid of the fight against AIDS during amfAR Cannes, part of the 2017 Cannes International Film Festival (amfAR has so far raised a total of over $190 million for research). Other new additions to the luxury Alpina Gstaad offerings include SnowShoe Hike by Night two-hour sensory adventures, and three-day Energy Healing Programmes, with Kundalini balancing treatments. The hotel, run by Eric Favre, also really stresses its sustainability awareness: room keycards are wood, and, in fact, the entire hotel is built from reclaimed timber. And, of course, you look out from the hotel at the beautiful Swiss countryside.
