A new member of staff joins the luxury Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas hotel

Pepper – on the left – with Donald Bowman

Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas has a new personal assistant, title Technical Ambassador.  Pepper is a SoftBank humanoid robot, standing four-feet tall, and because it can discern someone’s gender, approximate age and mood it is able to personalize its answers.  Pepper knows about the hotel, and the locale, and it can give directions, suggest things to do, dance and pose for selfies. It is based in the luxury hotel’s 23rd floor Sky Lobby, near front desk. Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas GM Donald Bowman says, ‘Pepper will serve as a source of entertainment that we hope will provide an enjoyable element of surprise for guests of all ages’. (Pepper is a United States registered trademark of SoftBank Robotics Europe, a French “Société par Actions Simplifiée” company.)
